The idea of a charity cook book originally came about whilst a Sheffield knife sharpener was going about his business, servicing restaurants across the north of England. He asked a few local chefs if they would be prepared to donate a recipe, then asked a few more, and before long chefs from across the world were offering to get involved.
The knife sharpener in question was Mick Fox, a 43 year old former bricklayer, who bought his business Ultrasharp, back in 2008. An offer of help came from Stephen Saville, a Wakefield-based photographer with a background in design, and together, they have worked tirelessly to transform a simple idea into a project that is being talked about in kitchens up and down the land.
